Baked Potatoes

Baking potatoes

Or Russet Potatoes

butter or margarine

Salt and pepper

Sour cream or cheese or chili or diced ham (optional)



Wash unpeeled potatoes under running water and rub the dirt off the skins. Poke a knife into each potato in the middle about halfway through.  

While the potatoes are still wet, wrap each in a paper towel or napkin, preferable one without print but you won’t die if it has.  Put potatoes in microwave in a circle.  The potatoes look like the rays coming from an imaginary sun.  Microwave on high about 5 minutes if you’re cooking 1-3 potatoes.  After they've cooked 5 minutes, using a pot holder, gently squeeze the potatoes in the middle if they are still very hard cook 5 more minutes.  If they are medium hard 2:30 minutes and soft with a little hard spot 1 minute if they are very soft it means they are done.  If they are done let them sit for 5 minutes before eating.  If some are done and some aren't take out the ones that are done and set the timer for the lowest time and take them out as they get done.  Leave them wrapped until ready to serve.  Serve hot with butter Yum! Or whatever topping you want. 
More than 7 won’t cook well at one time.
