Birchermuesli

Vanilla ice cream,         1 carton (½ gallon)
Frozen strawberries,    small package (thaw on the counter during dinner)
Apple - red delicious,     2 sliced thin, peeled and chopped small
Bananas,                     2-3
Mini marshmallows     2 -3 handfuls
Pecans,                        3/4 cup, chopped
Dry oatmeal,                 ½ - 1 cup (quick cooking kind - not old fashioned) optional

In a large bowl dump the entire carton of ice cream.  I usually put it in the fridge before we start Family Night.  Take a wooden spoon or long knife and break the ice cream up into large chunks.

Add the frozen strawberries that have thawed somewhat.  Gently stir.  By the time it's all in there, the ice cream will have blended with everything.

With each ingredient we decide if it looks good or do we add more.

Slice and peel the apples then cut small and add to the ice cream, stir gently

Slice the bananas into the ice cream, stir gently

Add the marshmallows, stir gently

We usually announce at this point that we are about to add the nuts and oatmeal and if anyone wants it without, we serve them some first.

Add the chopped nuts, stir gently

Add the oatmeal, stir gently

We like to serve these in Grandma Snarr's blue cups on Christmas Eve.

Check the label "Chirstmas Eve Program" for a sample program of Christmas Eve.
